EXONET is uniquely formulated without the synthetic chemical, piperonyl butoxide (PBO), which is included in most other pyrethrins formulations as a synergist to improve effectiveness. Without the presence of PBO, insects sprayed with pyrethrins will tolerate the pyrethrins, meaning that, whilst they are knocked down, they will quickly recover. So people have to add a high ratio of PBO to actually kill the insects. The problem is, amongst other concerns, piperonyl butoxide is classified by the USA EPA as a possible human carcinogen, and it is not a natural product.
